Jumi Hayaki

Jumi Hayaki is Dean of Faculty Development and Professor of Psychology at the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. She joined the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty in 2007, was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor in 2013, to Professor in 2020. Her research program examines mechanisms of emotion regulation in eating and substance use disorders, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations. She teaches courses on mental health and psychological disorders, including specialty courses on eating and substance use problems, as well as research methods in psychology.

Hayaki was a long-standing member of the Health Professions Advising Committee and served as the Associate Health Professions Advisor at the College in 2015-2021 and 2022-2024. She has also served on the Committee on Tenure and Promotion, a Hiring Processes Committee and several tenure-track search committees, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion reading group, and the modeling group for the Center for Inclusive Excellence in Teaching.
