Hello, my name is Gracie and I’m a goldendoodle. I help build relationships with the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø community and assist in helping students who are feeling stress or anxiety and may find comfort in the presence of a dog. You’ll see me frequently on campus with my officer partner. When you do, feel free to stop and say hello or even to pet me!
Under Massachusetts General Law known as An Act Relative To Justice, Equity And Accountability In Law Enforcement In The Commonwealth, the department is designated a sworn law enforcement agency with all responsibility for crimes that occur within our jurisdiction. As such, all Public Safety officers are certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission and are accountable to the POST Commission for continued compliance with policies and training.
The department endeavors to act and work within a Jesuit mission framework that promotes a just and equitable outcome for all. Public Safety is committed to continuous learning, teaching and training of its members in a manner and frequency that lends itself to consistent positive transformation in partnership and dialogue with the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø community. This partnership is the foundation of maintaining an environment that encourages mutual respect, caring and safety for the campus community.
All Public Safety officers are sworn police officers who have graduated from a police academy administered either by the Massachusetts State Police or the Massachusetts Police Training Committee. They have arrest authority and are charged with the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, as well as the enforcement of College policies.
Public Safety works closely with the City of Worcester Police Department as well as state and local emergency response services.
