Each year, the Hanify-Howland Memorial Lecture Committee accepts applications for new members. The Committee seeks to admit students with a genuine enthusiasm for the Committee and a dedication to its purpose in recognizing exceptional individuals in public service. In addition, ideal members must possess the ability to make valuable contributions to the Committee regarding the selection of future speakers and act as an ambassador between the Committee and the College community.
As quoted from the Hanify-Howland Memorial Lecture Committee Constitution:
The Committee seeks to achieve a membership representative of the diversity of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø student body, but in so far as the Committee is committed to recognizing public servants regardless of race, gender and religion, it is also committed to the same ideal in choosing its membership.
Student applications consist of a brief essay (no longer than one page) of why they would like to join the Committee in which he/she must propose a speaker who they would like to see give the Hanify-Howland Memorial Lecture. As an optional supplement, applicants are able to submit resume/curriculum vitae. After applications are received, selected students will be invited to a brief interview in front of the Committee. Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision in a timely manner via e-mail.
