Brooks Hall is the largest residence hall on campus housing 400 students, mostly first year with a small population of sophomore students. Brooks Hall houses the Montserrat program which allows students to meet and interact with peers of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø community. The basement provides a study lounge and a large common space used by residents for hall dinners, building-wide meetings, and social programs. The kitchen area in the basement has two full-sized refrigerators, microwave, counter, stove, and two ovens. There are standard cooking supplies students are able to sign-out with the RA staff. Students enjoy entertainment on the 42-inch, big screen TV. Laundry facilities are located on the ground floor.
Brooks rooms are approximately 12' x 18' on average. You will find one desk, desk chair, desk lamp, dresser, bookcase, and bed per occupant. Every room has a window and fire-retardant drapes. The twin beds are extra long and "college size" sheets are recommended. Although there is overhead lighting, students are encouraged to bring an extra lamp.
In Brooks, we have mainly standard double rooms and 1-2 standard quads located on each floor. Some of the double rooms are the standard set-up with traditional built-in closets and dressers. Additionally, some of the doubles have been remodeled with modular furniture, allowing more options to arrange furniture for different configurations as desired by the students.Â
Brooks Hall (originally Mulledy Hall, renamed Brooks-Mulledy Hall in 2016, and renamed Brooks Hall in 2020) opened in 1966. Its name honors Rev. John E. Brooks, S.J., the 29th president of 17³Ô¹ÏÍø (1970 to 1994). Brooks housed the first class of women when 17³Ô¹ÏÍø became coeducational in 1972. This hall is supervised by an area coordinator (AC), who is a live-in staff professional. The Brooks staff includes 12 resident assistants (RAs) and one head resident assistant (HRA).
