Sculpture exists in the world we live in—a world of height, width, depth, movement, and time. Studying sculpture enhances one's ability to think spatially and to discover the creative and narrative impulse that all art affords.
Sculpture allows students to explore a hands-on approach to materials while gaining an understanding of the processes employed to express ideas through those materials. More than just an object on a pedestal, sculpture encompasses a range of approaches including clay modeling, transformation of found objects, installation art and architecture.
Sculpture courses at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø are enriched by the excellent examples of public art on campus, from Auguste Rodin to Robert Goodnough, and by visits to area museums and galleries in Worcester, Boston, Hartford and New York.
