Feb. 2, 2023 | End of Mask Advisory

Dear Members of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø Community:

The mask advisory that was put in place on January 18 will end as of this email.

The mask advisory served to encourage the campus community to take precautions to avoid the spread of respiratory viruses after engaging in high-risk activities like travel when returning to campus. Trends for the state and local community are decreasing. We are still seeing respiratory virus cases on-campus, but with minimal disruption to academics.

Transmission of COVID and flu will continue to occur in our community. Individuals are encouraged to make their own personal risk assessment before socializing, attending games or performances, or engaging in other activities that may lead to infection. There are precautions you may take to avoid illness, such as frequent handwashing, masking, and gathering outdoors. If you feel sick, continue to get tested and avoid social interactions to lessen the chance of getting others sick. Students, if you test positive for COVID, please fill out the to help us understand campus positivity trends and provide you with the resources you need to isolate safely.

Campus public spaces will be mask-optional, but please continue to always have a mask with you in case you are asked to mask. As a reminder, masks are still required in Health Services and the Counseling Center, employees have the right to require masking in their personal work areas, and faculty members have the right to require masking in their classrooms, labs and personal offices. Masking will continue to be encouraged in crowded indoor areas.

Thank you for continuing to respect those in our community who choose to mask.
