Recent Activities and Accomplishments

STARTALK grants to strengthen the field of Chinese language teaching Professor Ross has received StarTalk grants from the National Security Agency annually since 2012 to conduct summer programs for master teachers of Chinese. The StarTalk programs focus on literacy development in students of Chinese as a foreign language.

The link to the "Read-On" literacy website is: . The site includes reading lists on literacy acquisition in Chinese, best practices in character and text literacy instruction, complete teaching modules that illustrate strategies for effective character and reading acquisition in Chinese at various grade levels from kindergarten through college, and more.
