The Deaf Studies and Sign Languages Program is housed in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.
Interdisciplinary Studies
Pursuing a Deaf Studies and Sign Languages major through the gives students the opportunity to integrate their deaf studies with two other disciplines within the College. Past approved student-designed multidisciplinary majors have included, Social Issues in Deaf Education; Genetics and the Deaf Community; and Development of Literacy Skills for Deaf Children.
Students may pursue a major or minor in Deaf Studies and Sign Languages along with a major in another discipline or language.
After Graduation
Deaf Studies and Sign Languages graduates go on to succeed in a variety of careers and fields, such as education, human services and government. Some graduates decide to advance their study of Deaf Studies and Sign Languages by applying for graduate programs, including Deaf Education at Boston University.
