Passport is a program designed to assist promising first-year students achieve their full potential during their transition to the educational experience at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. Each year Admissions invites selected incoming students to participate in Passport. Students who accept our invitation to join Passport are expected to complete all three components of the program.
All 17³Ô¹ÏÍø students are welcome to engage with Academic Services and Learning Resources for individual learning assistance.
Professional staff members assist students with the various academic challenges and transitions they may encounter throughout their undergraduate journey.
During one-on-one appointments, students engage in a collaborative process of developing a personalized performance-enhancing plan. Students learn to set academic goals, manage their time effectively, improve their study habits, and learn about different 17³Ô¹ÏÍø resources.
Teaching students to embrace a growth mindset, ASLR empowers students and helps them commit to their academic and personal goals. Students leave advising appointments with concrete action steps and strategies to use moving forward.

The Mentor Program is designed to support students with their transition to 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. Students invited to participate in the Mentor Program include, but are not restricted to, first-year students from underrepresented backgrounds, first-generation students, students eligible for the pell grant, International students, transfer students, Passport and Odyssey students.
Administered by (ASLR) and the (JEBI), groups of about five students are matched with a peer mentor for ongoing conversation, advice and friendship during their first year.
Peer tutors can assist in several ways, ranging from explaining conceptual material to guiding students through problem solving and providing independent learning strategies.
Daytime tutoring sessions are held as drop-in sessions on a first-come, first-served basis. Evening tutoring sessions are held by appointment only in 30 to 60 minute increments.
In-person tutoring takes place in Dinand 205 (evening and daytime). Students may also request a virtual tutoring session when scheduling an appointment.
In April 2021, our peer tutoring training program became internationally recognized by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) as a Level 1 tutoring program. CRLA certification establishes internationally accepted standards of skills and best practices.
STEM+E tutoring is a great resource for any student enrolled in intro and upper-level Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Psychology and Neuroscience courses.
Spanish tutoring sessions are offered by upper-level Spanish tutors who work with students on vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and other Spanish concepts. They can help students in courses 301 and lower.
Academic Services and Learning Resources (ASLR) supports students throughout their academic journey at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. Serving in a supplementary role, ASLR’s programming prepares students to be better, confident, and independent learners by sharpening their tools for academic success.
